DIY Yarn Wall Art

November 3, 2014

So what I have really wanted to do is learn how to create those beautiful wall art weavings that we see going around on Pinterest and Instagram.  But because I can be a bit impatient and I didn’t see an opportunity to sit down and create one happening any time soon, I decided on this SUPER quick alternative yarn wall art.  I’ve been collecting branches for over a month with this idea in mind and I finally sat down to make one for the boys room the other day.  It took no time at all and one need not possess a single crafty or creative bone in their body to make this, I promise. Also, the possibilities really are endless.  Any colors. You can trim into any shape at the bottom.  Any size.  So fun!easy diy yarn wall art

First I trimmed a bunch of yarn to be double the length of what I wanted my longest strand to be.  Note how I folded my string in half before cutting.  Once I cut out a bunch of strands I started slip knotting them around the tree branch from one end to the other.  I pulled super tight and then scooted each piece as close to possible next to its neighboring piece of yarn so there were no gaps between strands.  Last, I trimmed an imperfect “V” shape into the bottom of the yarn with fabric scissors.  Twenty minutes later and I was done!  This would make a fun girls craft night–and I think it would look so rad in neons.

This looks great! And it seems like it would be a great light-weight decoration for above baby’s crib! Also, I LOVE those bunk beds! Where are they from??

    Love that yarn art!!

How do you like that bed as a bunk bed? Did you get the same mattress for underneath as on top? We already have the loft bed and are getting ready to make the big switch to a big girl bed for my youngest and they share a room and I’ve been considering getting another mattress for underneath, rather than a toddler bed.

I love this idea! Thank you for sharing! I think I could make it right now because I have a lot of colorful yarn and find a branch in the backyard. Gotta make it soon!
