I have a new friend.
Her name is Brooke.
Brooke White.
You may have heard of her,
from this little show called American Idol.
I’ve watched every season.
But this was the only season where I actually voted.
And it was for her.
She made me smile then,
and she makes me smile now.
About a month ago I met Brooke in person.
Like a total goof ball, I confessed my infatuation with her on Idol,
and I even ended with “I totally voted for you like a hundred times, I think you are so great”.
She graciously thanked me.
But on the way home I cringed with embarrassment at my confession.
Oh boy, she must think I’m crazy.
Ben just laughed. Well, you are.
But she wasn’t scared off by my juvenile gushing.
At least not enough.
So we hung out some more.
And we clicked.
Shared love for crafting.
Shared obsession with fashion blogs.
Shared addiction to multi-tasking.
Unlike me, however, Brooke is an insanely talented singer, song writer, musician and artist.
She laughs with her whole heart.
Tickles and plays with your kiddos on the floor of your living room.
Swoons over your button collection and admires your stencils.
She’s the kind of girl you can devour an entire carton of ice cream with.
She’s real.
And I like a girl who’s real.

Oh, and she’s not afraid to mix patterns and wear chunky jewelry with a thrifted t-shirt.
Brooke literally throws together the perfect outfit in just minutes,
the same outfit that would have taken me an entire week of planning.
It’s a gift she has. One of them anyway.
So that’s why Brooke is here today–to inspire us with her mad fashion skills.
On Wednesday, Brooke showed up at my house with a suitcase packed full of shoes, accessories and fabulous thrifted finds. It was good times.

This girl is stunning, I tell ya.
I am still swooning over every outfit.
And if we wore the same size shoe, you can bet some of these bad boys would be living at my house for a while.

Brooke collaborated with the talented singer-songwriter, Jack Matranga–to create this modern, relevant and classic album.
