The Art of Headband Wearing {and a challenge, AND a link party}

July 27, 2011
I love headbands. Everything about them.
I love that they hide a bad hair day, that they dress up a boring outfit, that they give your look a little spunk.  I have nearly a dozen of them, from all my favorite shops out in etsy and blogland.  But when it really comes down to it, I don’t wear them as often as I could.  I select my outfit and then add one of my extra cute headbands for garnish…then…just as I am about to walk out the door, I feel uncomfortable and take it off.  I can’t be the only one who goes through this routine, right?
So that’s where my challenge comes in.
I challenge myself, and YOU, to wear a headband everyday for a week.
Even if you’re just wearing sweatpants and a pony tail–throw on that headband, snap a picture and get ready to link up later next week. It will be a sort of What I Wore {on my head} link party.  And we’d love to still have you play even if you only make it one day. What do you think?
In case you need a little headband wearing inspiration,
here are a handful of pictures showing some of the different ways to sport your headbands:

So I’m thinking we’ll have the link party next Friday, August 5th.
And then I will feature a handful of y’all in a follow-up post.
Sound good?
Rock the headbands girlies!
Also, if you know of any good headband shops,
put a link in the comments for us.

I love how these look! But I do not understand how people get them to stay on their heads! Headbands do not stay put on my melon. It must be strangely shaped. Plus they give me a headache, no matter how I wear them!

Great idea. I am headband obsessed too and love dressing up an outfit with a little something in my hair. I buy most of mine from etsy or from Diva here in Australia. But I recently discovered this lovely ladies blog and I've got two of her gorgeous creations – http://4littlebabushkas.blogspot.com/

I do the same thing!! I have drawers full of headbands that I love, but I'm too shy for some reason to wear them in public. I'll make it to my car, then at a red light I'll end up taking it off. So sad! But you're on, challenge accepted 🙂

I posted earlier but forgot to add… to everyone who says they feel "too old" to wear the headband, i find that wearing it lower and to the side above my hear helps and wearing a headband that looks polished and a little vintage helps too. i struggled with the same thing… i didn't want to look like I was "trying too hard" when I wore one. So I started making my own that didn't feel funny to wear LOL

I LOVE the headband trend and I wish that I could wear them, but I feel like they're too much accessory on my head since I wear glasses. That's the same reason why I felt like I needed to stop wearing earrings, too. I don't want to be the dumb girl who has too much stuff around her face – like the girls who wear too much makeup. Oh I wish I had seen this link party earlier…I wear flower headbands ALL the time! I started my own etsy shop just because I couldn’t wear all the ones I was making:-) In the picture of Casey in the hospital, she is wearing one of my headbands:-) I would love for you to check out my little shop. http://www.thetrendyowl.etsy.com

Super cute idea. I really enjoyed this. I love to order my headbands and accessories from Harts & Pearls. She will do custom orders, and is absolutely amazing.

Clip’n Band is the only headband that stays on my head. The reason it doesn’t slip off is because it has clips sewn on the inside of the headband to hold it in place.

    It really won’t move.

Like I said, I have never been able to wear headbands until I found Clip’n Band.

The great thing is that Clip’n Band is having a clearance event and offering crazy low prices on their Facebook page starting on 6/18/14. Their page is facebook.com/clipnband. You must like their page to participate.

Or you can visit their website at http://www.clipnband.com.

It’s nearly impossible to find educated people in this particular topic, however, you seem like you know
    what you’re talking about! Thanks

I actually like these headbands. I was worried after reading some reviews, but I gave them a chance. They actually fit really well, and I have a slightly larger size head. Most headbands fall off, but these seem to feel secure. I love the colors.

can be especially difficult to achieve with a knit because they’re all Herve Leger Bandage Dress going to be formed to the body.
