I love this!! Need to get me one ASAP. I love that you can customize something special for each day, instead of a square of nasty chocolate like the ones from the grocery store.
I think you should put a variety of things in the boxes. And make them things you can actually do, to make more memories. Maybe some days you could have some type of special service, or charity you could do for someone in need this holiday season. Like donate food to a food bank, or buy a toy for a family in need. Then do some fun to bring the holiday spirit, like going caroling or baking gingerbread cookies or writing Santa a letter. Infact, I love this idea so much im gonna start doing this for a family tradition! How fun, and great memories for you little one as he grows up and can some day share with his family.

That is darling! A lot of people just put candy, but you can get creative and put just about anything. Little activities, an ornament to place on the tree, messages. I think any little thing that will bring a smile to a person’s face, whether it’s a quick treat, or an act of service to make another person smile, would be appropriate.

It looks beautiful! We do an advent calendar and write little notes with fun things to do that day. (ex. Get a tree, decorate the tree, bake cookies, write a letter to Santa, watch a Christmas movie, drive around and look at lights, make a snowman- if no snow u can do a snowman craft, send Christmas cards- my kids like to out on the stamps and put them in the mail box, take gifts to our neighbors, make a ginger bread house, etc. there is so many fun options. My kids are 2 and 4 so it’s easy to come up with ideas because kids really love anything christmas-ish. Good luck

I DIY’d an advent garland years ago and I always put an Andes Peppermint Candy in it…well two, one for me and one for the hubs. It’s our little ritual each night in December. Those candies are so good I think about them all year. Now I just need to convince someone to buy me a Silhouette so I can make a new calendar as the garland is atrocious!

I love it!! The boxes are super cute. Maybe you could fill it with little toys and Baby W’s favorite snacks. Or like previously suggested charitable activities or fun winter activities like “hot chocolate picnic” or “look at Christmas lights”

I’ve heard of people putting their kids’ vitamins in the advent calendar. That way they don’t forget to take them each day… and the gummies are a yummy little treat for them too!

This is so, so, so cute. If I were you, I would put a small Christmas ornament in each box. Take one out every night and let your little guy hang it on the tree. That we he can understand the “Christmas Countdown” 🙂 We love counting down the days until Christmas over here {starting on Decmeber 1st} There is something so very magical about that when you are a child! I made my own advent calendar when I was a kid – it was from a bunch of tiny matchbox drawers stacked up to look like a Christmas tree. You stick the matchbox holders onto a triangular shaped piece of card then slide the drawers in and out (I used thumbtacks as drawer handles. Then I got my parents to stuff it with a wide variety of my favourite chocolates and candies, and number the drawers randomly. It was so fun! I wish I still had it…!

This is way too cute. I am so excited that Gav is old enough this year to do some fun stuff like this. I don’t think he will totally grasp it, but it will be fun for the hubby and me. I made one (not quite as cute as yours) using old Christmas cards from the year before and in each day I put a note of something special we would do that day together (my 2 1/2 year old and myself). I was home on maternity leave last year when I did this so we had quite a bit of time together. Some were simple like get a new Christmas book and read it together, put up our Christmas tree, put together our manger and read the story of baby Jesus being born, get a Christmas sucker, give someone a suprise annomous gift, make silly sock puppets, ect. We had a lot of fun doing everything together and he looked forward to taking one off each moring. The only hard thing was knowing when we would have time to do the big things and putting them in the correct days. I did some last minute switching when things came up 🙂
