My birthday
used to be about BIG presents,
and lots of them,
a “special” cake with sparkly candles,
balloons and streamers,
and being the center of attention
for an e.n.t.i.r.e. day.
And while all those things
are totally awesome,
this year’s birthday
was a bit different…
and completely perfect.
I woke up at 7am,
went to Church,
taught Sunday school to
40 adorable kiddos,
came home to a sick hubby and baby
{I’m still sick too, btw},
had a quick bite to eat,
and then took an
impromptu trip to the beach.
There was splishing,
there was splashing,
there was even a fully clothed
face plant into a wave
by Baby W.
Baby W had the time of his life,
and, as usual, he enjoyed
being the center of attention
for an e.n.t.i.r.e. day.
And I couldn’t imagine
a better way to spend my birthday.

Isn't that the truth for sure when it comes to our birthdays now that we are mothers. I agree that it's creating memories like you did atbthe beach that makes the day special- not the presents anymore. Not that I would complain if I still got a nice BIG gift ;). Happy Birthday!!

Awesome awesome pictures and although our birthdays arent exactly the same mine was just Friday… I didnt even mention it on my blog and my whole day was about Charlie…. funny how things change. … oh and I currently live in TN but Im from the south coast of England and was born a mile away from the sea so I totally miss it so I LOVED seeing the pictures of the sea!!!! I wish I could just take impromptu trips to the beach with Charlie, oh well one day for now we settled for our first trip to the YMCA swimming pool on Saturday! Not as glam as CA beach… but still we had a blast!
