Silhouette Heat Transfer Material on Apparel {my first project}

January 19, 2011
Silhouette Heat Transfer Apparel
I don’t mean to toot my own “crafty” horn,
but seriously, could these black and white onesies get any cuter?
Well, I suppose they would be cuter in the newborn size
{these are mondo 24 months}.

Silhouette Electronic Cutting Tool

This was my very first project using my Silhouette,
and I must admit, at first I was a little overwhelmed.
BUT…once I got started,
everything was so user friendly
that I soon felt a different kind of overwhelm—
the kind of overwhelmed that said,
How am I going to find the time to make ALL the goodies this bad boy can whip up?
I mean the possibilities are endless!

These onesies took no time at all–that is, once I finished a ridiculous amount of time shopping from 1,000’s of different designs that I LOVED–I still have a dozen others that I downloaded that would look so cute on these Baby W onesies.
And the heat transfer material comes in tons of different colors, other than black.  I have some yellow that I am going to try next.

Are those mustaches not the most amazing thing ever?!

Yes, yes they are!
And I just used a font to type out the famous words of Lightning McQueen:
Ka Chow!
Baby showers, here I come!

Next item on the list–vinyl subway art for a church project
{the 13th Article of Faith}

And if ANY of you guys have a fun Silhouette project, please leave a link or tell me about it in the comments section–because I need some new crafty ideas!

Very cute! Here's a link to some glasses I etched last week.

I've got a few other projects coming up on my blog in the next couple of weeks, too.

Don't you just love your machine? I'm in the process of naming mine right now. (Don't judge; my sewing machine is named, and I'm seriously considering naming my laminator, too.)

My first silhouette project was heat transfer shirts too.. check mine out here: http://www.peaceloveapplesauce.com/2010/07/custom-t-shirts-w-silhouette.html

Downfall: as soon as I washed them, the transfer started peeling away. 🙁

I LOVE the mustaches! And that penguin is super cute.

What sort of heat transfer material do you use for these? Just normal stuff or is it certain stuff just for the silhouette?

Great idea to use those for baby shower gifts! It would be so nice to do something personal and fun (and easy!) like that! Sadly, I have no funds for new craft adventures, but I shall put that on my way-far-away wishlist. 😀

I've had mine 2 weeks and am overwhelmed by it! I've made 2-3 things and it scares me. So glad to see a tutorial, I haven't come across many. Thanks for sharing! I've wanted to do some iron-on but am afraid it will come off in the wash!

To answer a few of your questions:

I haven't tried to wash mine yet, but a friend told me that as long as you prewash the clothes the transfer material should stick.

And I used the Silhouette brand of transfer material found on their website. I haven't tried any other brands.

    thanks girlies!

    BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN
Why American men should boycott American women

    http://boycottamericanwomen.blogspot.com/

I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, don't know how to cook or clean, don't want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?

American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.

This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.

    BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN!
