Gussy Sews $75 Giveaway

gussy-feat

** GIVEAWAY CLOSED** Congrats to the WINNER, kindra baron I remember when I first heard about Gussy’s story. It was shortly after I had started my own blog, and I had hit a crossroads. I had some decisions to make–decisions about how seriously I wanted to take this whole blogging thing.  I was nervous to take that leap and not find higher ground to land on. Then I read about Gussy (real name Maggie btw), and how she was struggling with unemployment, taught herself how to sew, {…Read More…}

Pick Me Up

DSC_0934.JPG

I’m a sap. Take, for example, when I have a “melancholy” day, or week for that matter. That’s when you can find me scouring the pages of pinterest into the wee hours of the night searching for words of encouragement and strength. The power of words always astounds me. How one simple sentence can change my entire perspective, alter my frame of mind, get me back on track, and remind me what matters most. Often I find those words when I read my scriptures, or {…Read More…}

Barn Owl Primitives: Tips to Grow Your Creative Business

acrylic paint.jpeg

I started this blog in February 2010. And in the beginning, I remember spending way too much time on Etsy looking to discover my favorite new designer–one that maybe, just maybe would be willing to sponsor a giveaway on my site. That’s when I met Kristi of Barn Owl Primitives. Kristi, Creator and Designer of Barn Owl Primitives I knew I had to contact her after I found myself hearting nearly every item in her shop. At first, she was hesitant about sponsoring a giveaway AND product review. She {…Read More…}

Meet Brooke White: a fashion post and giveaway

Brooke White of Jack and White

I have a new friend. Her name is Brooke. Brooke White. You may have heard of her, from this little show called American Idol. I’ve watched every season. But this was the only season where I actually voted. And it was for her. She made me smile then, and she makes me smile now. About a month ago I met Brooke in person. The Headband Challenge and Link Party

Get caught up on the challenge here. What I Learned From the Headband Challenge: 1. Apparently my forehead is even larger than I already knew it was. And headbands can either hide or accentuate its massive surface area. I prefer to hide it. 2. I like headbands more than I knew. 3. They can be worn with pony tails. And when a busy week calls for limited hair washing, this style is the method of choice. Before this week, I had never worn a headband this way. 4. {…Read More…}
