It’s 7:30 pm and we’re in the car, leaving the park and heading home to start the bedtime routine.
Wes: Mommy, why can’t we see the park anymore?
Me: Because it’s too dark out.
Wes: Mommy, why is it too dark out?
Me: Because the sun went down.
Wes: Mommy, why did the sun go down?
Me: Because it’s night time.
Wes: Mommy, why is it night time?
Me: …..uh, because Jesus made it night time.
Wes: Mommy, why did Jesus make it night time?
Me: To help all the people and all the animals sleep better.
Wes: Mommy, why do animals sleep?
Me: Because they need rest just like people.
Wes: Mommy, what does Jesus use to make it night time?
Me: ……uh…..uh….I don’t know buddy.
(I’m never prepared when his questions get deep)
Wes: Mommy, you aaaallllways say you don’t know.
Me: I guess you’re right buddy.
All day, every day.
